Andrew Elmer Szakacs

July 19th, 2019

Andrew Elmer Szakacs was born in the Bekevar community by Kipling, Saskatchewan on October 6, 1927 to Ben and Olga Szakacs.

On July 19, 2019 our Dad Andy, (Papa, Super papa, Uncle Candy) left us to join the rest of his family who had gone on before him. He was also predeceased by his son David and his wife Joyce.

Dad was a silent fighter. He was someone that just wouldn’t give up on anyone or anything, even when he was so tired these past few years. He was a man of faith who was independent and with a lot of pride.

Andy is survived by his children Marlyn (Dave) Brunning, Kevin (Wendy) Szakacs, and Jamie (Andrea Dunphy) Szakacs; his adoring grandchildren Jonathan (Shannon) Brunning, Kristin (Jason) Wengel, Kaily (Shaun) Tuner , Mike (Liz) Szakacs, Chloe (Paul Lander) Szakacs, Morgan (Deanna Law) Szakacs, Charlie and Corbin Dunphy ; he also had 8 great-grandchildren who loved him as “Super Papa”.

Andy was a true gentleman, always smiling... wanting to know all about you. He remembered the details and always asked you about them.

His thoughtfulness taught us all to be more caring people. Dad touched many, both in our extended family and our community. His favorite word NO, (no, no, no) will live on with all of us forever; as will his unforgettable chuckle.

We love and miss you so much Dad (Papa)!

A Service to honour Andy will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.at the Parkland Bible Church (the Round Church), Kipling, SK. Interment has taken place at the Bekevar Presbyterian Cemetery. Please join us for lunch and coffee at the Kipling Friendship Centre, after the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kipling Integrated Health Centre, Box 420, 906 Industrial Drive, Kipling, SK  SOG 2SO. The entire staff there looked after our father as one of their own. They made him feel at home over the past 4 years and we are forever grateful.
