Maureen Lynn Gwilliam

December 20th, 2019

It is with profound sadness the family of Maureen Lynn Gwilliam announces her passing after a prolonged illness on Friday, December 20, 2019 in Regina, SK.

She was predeceased by her brother Ken and father Leonard.

Maureen is survived by her husband Doug; son Jeffrey Gwilliam and fiancé Jenalee Bent; daughter Jodi (Jarrod) Slugoski and grandson Oliver; mother Marilyn Pfeifer; brothers Bill (Shirley) Pfeifer, Bob (Maureen) Pfeifer, and Jim (Tracey) Pfeifer; sisters Cathy (Doug) Seidel and Julie (George) Dimas; sister-in-law Shirley Pfeifer and partner Graham Lloyd; along with many nieces and nephews.

Maureen grew up on the family farm at Lemberg, SK and after graduating high school made the move to Regina, where she began a long and distinguished career at Saskatchewan Government Insurance that spanned 34 years. She retired from S.G.I. in 2010 but after a brief stint at home decided her skills and abilities could still be put to good use, and she returned to the workforce. She spent time at Costco and later in the office at Bergen’s Auto Body, before finally taking full retirement in 2016.

She was most proud of her grandson Oliver, and spent countless hours watching videos of him as he developed from a baby into a young boy. Anytime you spoke with Maureen either in person, by phone, or online, you heard about Oliver.

Maureen was a selfless individual and always put family and friends first. She was also a very compassionate person and became a lifelong blood donor reaching the 60 donation milestone, an accomplishment of which she was most proud.

Maureen touched many lives, both personally and professionally, and she will be greatly missed by many.

At Maureen’s request, there will be no funeral service.

Flowers gratefully declined.

To the family, so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and we will miss her deeply.

To Doug & Family We were all so shocked & so very sad to learn of Maureen's passing. We realize that there are no words that can take away your pain, nor make things any easier for you & your family in times like this. Ruth Esplen (Our mother) thought the world of Maureen and would often speak of what a wonderful person Maureen was. Mom always said that Maureen was one of those people who were truly beautiful both on the inside and out. Doug, sadly, all we can offer you at this time is to hope and pray that you and your family take the time to remember all the wonderful times you had together as a family and cherish the many memories you all have of your dear wife, mother & soul mate Maureen. Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this time Doug Ken, Wanda, Karen & Pat and family
