Daniel Patrick Chase

April 12th, 2019

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Daniel Patrick Chase who was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the age of 56 years.

Daniel was predeceased by his father, Leonard, and his foster brother, Eric Smoker. He is survived by his mother, Ruth; his sisters Anne, Catherine, Angela and Helena; and his brothers John, Michael and Peter.

Daniel coped for most of his adult life with a range of ailments, yet he was able to live independently and work productively in food services until the time of his passing. Food was one of his great passions. He frequently entertained family and friends in his home and won praise for his delicious pot-luck creations.

Another passion was music. He owned a substantial vinyl collection and possessed an impressive knowledge of pop culture. Indeed, he remained interested and informed on a wide array of topics, political, cultural and technological.

We are eternally grateful to Daniel for playing an active role in caring for our mother over the years, enabling her to remain healthy and contented to this day in the original family home.

Daniel had modest tastes. Rather than a formal funeral service, we invite family and friends to a simple gathering of remembrance on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at 3642 – 21st Avenue, Regina, SK.  Bring and share your fond recollections of a man and a life well-lived, though ended too soon.

No flowers please. In keeping with his fondness for pot-luck gatherings, however, you would honour Dan by preparing a small sweet or savory creation of your own to share with those attending.

We look forward to meeting you.

Ruth, Anne, Catherine, John, Angela, Helena, Mike, and Peter

My deepest condolences to Helena and all the family; I only heard today (April 29) about Dan while I was at the YMCA, where I often ran into Dan. I just couldn't believe that Dan is gone, or that I did not hear of it; I would certainly have been at the gathering. He was a great guy who I considered a valued friend, as well as a co-worker for many, many years. He was a great joker, loved good music and good food, and was fun to have at any gathering. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you, and I so regret not having been able to share memories with his many friends and family. Dan will be missed by all of us.

Dear Helena, Mike and all members of the Chase family. So saddened to hear of this news-- please accept my deepest condolences. I have so many memories of Dan and the times we shared in high school and beyond-- in all of them, Dan is smiling, laughing and bringing goodwill to all who surrounded him. His love of music-- and his love for his siblings-- are memories I will have forever. I too hadn't seen him in a long time, but always considered him a friend. Rest in peace Dan...

I am so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. I first met him in elementary school, and over the past five decades, it was always good to run into Dan. As we became adults, I was aware that Dan was dealing with some challenges, but in our encounters, he was always the funny, kind, gentle person I first got to know at St. Pius. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Chase, Dan's siblings, and his extended family and friends.

Dear Chase family. So very sorry to hear this sad news. Dan was a great friend during the LeBoldus years. Although I had not seen him for some time the news today had a significant impact on me. Dan was a great guy and a gentle soul. Rest deeply my friend. You more than earned your place of final peace. With warmest regards Ken Lebioda

I got to know Dan because he was for the past 15 years a regular participant in the deep water aquafit class that I have led every Monday at the downtown Regina YMCA. He was a bright guy with a sense of humour that made him liked by everyone in the class. He never complained about his own physical or mental health issues, but I could see that he was struggling in the last little while. Dan's passing is a reminder to us all that we pass this way only once and need to be as kind and gentle as we can be, just like Dan, during our brief time here.

On behalf of my family I would like to offer our deepest sympathies to Helena, Michael, Angela, Anne, Catherine, John, Peter and Mrs Chase. Although I had not seen Dan for several years he has a prominent post in my thoughts and daily consciousness. We went through so much together starting from grade 1 through the pains of teenage life and on to adulthood. Dan was present for almost every major milestone of my early life and without a doubt helped shape who I am today. In my mind he is family. Bold, smart, funny, with a big heart. Thats how I remember Dan.

Dan was s guy who brought humour and adventure to every situation. He loved music. He was always a positive source of energy. He left us too soon but gave us a lot. Rest In Peace Dan.
