Oct. 19, 1937 – May 14, 2021

 

After being in poor health for the last four years, Dick passed away peacefully at the age of 83 with his wife of 58 years at his side.

 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carole; their three children; son, Rick (Joanne); daughter, Brenda Lytle (Byron) and daughter, Barb Brodie; six grandchildren, Jordan, Kayden, Cassidy Lees (Brent), Cierra (CJ), Lacy and Justin. One sister, Tini Scholing (Andy) of Red Deer; one brother, Arnie (Terry) of Rocky Mountain House; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Dick was predeceased by his parents, father, Bouke and mother, Anna Maria; six brothers, Lammert, Albert, Evert, Jerry, Bob and Gene. Dick was a Butcher for 40 years and retired in 2000. Dick was a Lions Club member for many years holding many positions. In 1985 – 1986 he was District Governor and travelled to all the Lions Clubs in his district. Dick and Carole travelled to International Conventions in Dallas, Texas and New Orleans. Dick and Carole travelled some over the years from Holland to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and also spent 11 winters in Yuma, Arizona and made many friends there. Dick loved to fish, play cards and really enjoyed family, especially all the grandchildren.

 

He will be sadly missed by many. There will be no Formal Funeral Service but we plan to have a Celebration of Life at a future date.
