GRIMES, Peter John

March 16, 1960 – November 24, 2021

Peter passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the age of 61 years.

Peter was predeceased by his loving parents, Margaret and John; and infant brother, Bartholomew.

Mourning his loss are his children, Ashley and her three children, Alexis, Kaden, and Chloe; David (Ann-Marie); and Adam. Peter is also lovingly remembered by his siblings who adored their baby brother, Lynda (Paul), Laura (Joe), Peggy (Jody), and Bruce (Kim); uncle, Fred Hampton and aunt, Maude Fagan. Peter was loved deeply by his nieces and nephews, because of his easy going child-like ways, he loved to spend time with them, playing games and participating in whatever they wanted to do. Peter also leaves behind a large group of cousins and friends he made through the years.

Peter was born in Newmarket, Ontario. He moved to Newfoundland as a young boy. Anyone who knew him, remembers him as a fun-loving child who was never seen far from his pedal bike. Along with his brother, Bruce, he followed his big sister Lynda to Alberta when he was just 18. He met Evelyn and started his family, becoming a devoted Father, he made Alberta his home and raised his sweet family alongside his parents and sister in Lloydminster before moving to Red Deer. Peter would be the first to admit he was terrible at keeping in touch, anyone he loved understood that.

His quick wit and zest for life always made him fun to be around. He always welcomed a good hug and was often seen curled up in his Mom’s arms, even as a full-grown man. He wholeheartedly loved his family (especially his little grandchildren) and loyalty meant everything to him. He saw things in black or white and did most things in one speed: full throttle!

Peter was a hard worker and always made friends wherever he went. He loved to laugh and have a few beers with his friends watching football or hockey (or any sport really.) To know him was to love him and all who did are struggling with his loss.

Messages:

So sorry to hear about your passing , R.I.P. mate you were a top bloke.

We have known Pete for approx. 15 years and through all of them, it has never been boring. I remember going to the Gold Medal World Jr game at 4 in the morning at Wild Bill's, walking in the snow in our PJs and big moose slippers(yes Wild Bill's did it as a PJ party) We won and it is the best memory I will have of Pete. We always had a great time no matter what we did together and he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed every day. God Bless you up there buddy and I am sure we will meet again some day.
