Dana Stary was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on November 22, 1924 and died peacefully at home in Agassiz, BC on October 30, at a time of her choosing. Dana arrived in Canada as a refugee in 1952 and strongly valued her new country, her independence and care of the natural environment. Messages:

I fondly remember Dana Starry for being one of the earliest members of the Vancouver Soto Zen group, who dedicatedly offered her own place in Kitsilano for others to meditate in the 70's and early 80's. Through Dana's diligence and generosity with her own practice, I saw numerous spiritual seekers through those years , find some direction, respite and sanctuary in facing the tribulations of their own difficulties in life. Thank you Dana, from just one of those seekers, who was lucky enough to partake in the compassion, love and wisdom that you so freely offered over those years of practice.

Remembering Dana <3 In the 1990s I worked for Agassiz-Harrison Community Services. Dana was the Monday driver for our Meals on Wheels program, picking up a cooler(s) of hot meals and delivering them all around our area to seniors and others in need of healthy food and a kind person to check in on them. Dana was friendly, dependable, dedicated, independent, and not afraid to share her opinions, and I enjoyed chatting with her. She was passionate about caring for our environment and making our world a better place. Rest easy, Dana.
