Anthony Kuresh

January 30th, 2021

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing our beloved son, Tony.

Tony was born in North Vancouver, B.C. at Lions Gate Hospital on April 5, 1970.  The most beautiful baby anyone has ever seen.  Of course that’s what all Moms say, but he really was so cute.  He turned into a really good man with a kind heart.  He lived in North Vancouver and went to Kindergarten and grade 1 at Mountain Hwy area until we moved to Richmond to around 2 Road and Steveson area in a new subdivision where he enjoyed having great friends.  Shane and Shawn and Tony loved to build things and jump bikes, skateboard etc.  You could almost always hear Tony whistling while riding his bikes up and down the streets, especially towards the evening.  He loved to dismantle all kinds of bikes and motors.

We later moved to Delta where he attended high school and met his wife Bridget.  They were married for many years but ended up in a divorce a few years ago.  They never had any children.

He definitely had a boyish heart and loved to tell jokes and play tricks on people.  His smile was warm and his giggle laugh was contagious.  He was known for his joking.

He loved playing guitar and had the great ability to play by ear instead of reading notes - truly a gift his fathers side of the family had.  They enjoyed picking a few songs here and there.  Many times over the years he would play with his Uncle George who loved to help him and enjoyed the time spent with Tony.  George and he are probably picking a few tunes in Heaven together right now.

He also loved nature as his Grandfather, Peter did.  He loved to get up early, get a coffee and go and enjoy nature, be it a walk at a lake, feeding horses or birds or just enjoying the great sunrises.  He was always a early riser.

He worked as a welder in Langley at the same job for 27 years and was respected by his fellow workers, who had a little memorial for him at work.  Thank you.

He loved the Shuswap Lake and enjoyed many a times behind the boat skiing, tubing and just plain having fun with his family.

He has left behind his Mom, Jennie LaHay and step-Dad, Paul; Father, John Kuresh and step-Mother, Linda.  His Sister, Leeann Kuresh and his Nieces, Alesha Werbowski and Alsion Werbowski.  His Great Niece, Mercedes and Great Nephew Zayne.  Also his step brother, Kevin LaHay and wife, Jackie and step brother David.

We will all miss him so very much and our hearts have a hole in them.  Until we meet again, our dear Tony… May God welcome you into Heaven with open arms and all our family and friends hold you dear and take care of you.  Love always…Rest in Peace.

.   Scripture: God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Due to COVID, we regret that there will be no celebration of life at this time, but we hope to have one when this is over.

Please leave a message to the family or a memory you have of Tony..Thank You

Messages:

It’s a very sad first anniversary to honour with love and condolences to his mother Jennie and family.

We have so many wonderful memories of Tony; Mexico, camping trips to Osoyoos and Merritt. Tony taking the mic for Rock Band. Parties and of course, family dinners and summer weekends in the Shu. We miss him.

Dear Jennie, Paul, John, Leeann & families, Memories are washing over me in waves of sadness over your loss of Tony. He played with my boys (remember the boys replicating the Kiss band!), hiked & camped as part of our 25th Richmond cub pack for years. It’s his beautiful smile I see when I think of Tony…& him whistling along Kittiwake Drive. Sending you love, wishing you peace within your memories of Tony. Mary Lou, Mike, Shane & Sean

Dear John Kuresh, My deepest sympathy for the tragic loss of your son. May all your fondest memories of Tony console you during the following months of grief. Dear Leanne , I’m so very sorry for your loss. I send my love to you and your children and grandchildren. Sending you Big virtual hugs.

Auntie Jennie, Uncle Paul. We were so sorry to hear about Tony’s passing. It is still hard to believe. I haven’t seen him since Grandmas funeral. Tony was always fun to be around and so easy to talk to. I still can hear his giggle and see his great smile. My Mom just reminded me about a time when he saved me from drowning when I was little picking strawberries in Richmond. I remember a time when Tony took me for a ride in his sports car around the block. It was exciting! Just told Mom about that one! Even though I didn’t see him often, he was always my cousin and family. I will miss him. Our thoughts are with you at this time. We pray for strength, comfort and peace for you.

Jenny and Paul, we are so saddened to hear of your loss in Tony’s death. It’s hard for us to fathom the depth of your grief in losing a son, but we pray that God will wrap His arms around you and give you strength and comfort in the days ahead. Love, Julie and Ray

As a mom, take comfort in all the love he gave and all the love he got back. Take comfort in all the beautiful memories of him and those memories he gave to so many others. This beautiful young man will truly be missed but never never forgotten. May He Rest In Peace. May you take solace in all and who Tony was. Love Bep and Frank

My dearest Jennie and Paul, my heart aches for you at the loss of your son Anthony. The void this has created for you is immeasurable . A parents worst nightmare to lose a child before our time to pass on. There are no words of comfort as they are as vacant as the space created by his demise. I am so truly sorry you must experience this grief and anguish. Please know my arms are wrapped around you long distance and I grieve with you. If there is anything that I can do or if you need someone to talk to please know I am at your beck and call. God grant you courage to face this devastating loss. Much

I was very sorry to learn of the death of Tony. On behalf of myself and my family I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to each of you, his family and friends, for your great loss.

My heart broke for you when I heard the tragic news. Losing a child is the greatest loss of all. I’ll always remember Tony as a young boy when we celebrated special occasions or dinner parties, with the children, in each other’s homes. Tony has the best smile. His whole face lit up! He especially love my Halloween parties. Because we moved away, I didn’t get to see the strong talented man Tony had grown to be. Tony was the great love of his mother’s heart as is his sister, Lianne. His loss will be a forever hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him so deeply. He will be lovingly held in the arms of his beloved Grandmother and Grandfather who, no doubt, were waiting with outstretched arms. Rest in Peace, dear Tony. You left us far too soon. Jennie, may all of your happiest memories of Tony comfort you and console you during this very sad time. Paul, you were the kindest & most supportive step-father a young man could ever wish for. Your special place in his life was admirable. Hugs. I know that you and Jennie will come out the other side of this tragedy, stronger. Love is stronger than anything.

Dear Jennie & Paul: I can’t begin to tell you how shocked and saddened we are to hear of your sons passing. Although we never knew him you paint a wonderful picture with words describing him so well. Our hearts go out to you at this time of tremendous loss, a parents worse nightmare. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincere condolences Bill & Mary Schultz
