Scott, Allan (Allen) Edward

May 31, 1931 – December 29, 2022

Our dear husband, father, papa, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at Baillie House in Maple Ridge, BC.  Predeceased by his father, Frederick, and his mother Sabre.  He was survived by his wife of 69 years, Rhoda and his three children, Rick, Jim, and Leisa (Mike), his grandchildren, Allan (Santana), Aleisha (Shadoe), Holly (Danny), Mackenzie, Danika (Matthew) and 6 great grandchildren.   He also leaves behind his sister, Freda, and her family along with many other family members, friends, and colleagues.

He will always be remembered by his gentle demeanor, the twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.

Allan had a deep connection and love for the ocean.  As a teenager he worked on the Union Steamships (Lady Cynthia) that travelled up and down the BC coastline.  He later joined the navy where he was stationed aboard HMCS Revelstoke and then Canada’s only aircraft carrier, the HMCS Magnificent.

Upon leaving the navy and married moved back to BC to raise his family.  While growing his career, he lived in several communities, Burnaby, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Victoria.

He also offered his time as a volunteer firefighter along with many other clubs, organizations, and events.  In his retirement years he enjoyed travelling from coast to coast by RV with his wife Rhoda before settling at Tapadera Estates and Sunwood Retirement Home.  Allan was always thankful and appreciative of time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

The family would like to thank the care staff at Baillie House for their support and kindness.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.   You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence to the family’s online obituary at www.myalternatives.ca

Messages:

I worked with Al Scott at Victoria School District where we were part of the Facilities Department administrative team. Al treated all deserving people with respect, and his staff loved him for his attitude and support. He was also very skilled at dealing with the politics of an organization run by an elected Board of Trustees. I learned a lot from working with Al. He was definitely a mentor to me. We stayed in touch over the years, and I will always remember him fondly with that big Al Scott smile! My deepest condolences to Al's family.

So sorry to hear about Allen, was such a pleasure getting to know him and briefly having the chance to serve him lunch and dinner on the weekends, will always remember his smile and the loving way he always looked after Rhoda.

What a shock to read about Allan’s passing in today’s paper. He was a much beloved cousin. His memory will forever be cherished. Sadly, as health issues imposed themselves on our lives we have not been in contact the past while as much as I would have liked. My sincere condolences to Rhoda and all the family. Patty

Allan will be so missed in our lives. He and Rhoda were our friends. and neighbours when we lived at Tapadera. Our condolences to his family. Arnie & Arlene Hansen

We knew Allan at Tapadera. He was always smiling and made us smile every time we talked. So glad we knew him and Rhoda. Our condolences, Pauline and Jean....

Allan Your and Rhoda’s friendship while we all lived on Portsmouth Dr in Colwood, will always be remembered by Sherry and I, and especially our children. I will always remember you comments and astonishment when I mowed the lawn in the dark with a head-lamp to see what I was mowing. Yes we’re the days. The Rossander’s salute you Arnold & Sherry, Gordon, Erin, Steven
