Lorretta Joan Hedberg

Joan Hedberg passed away April 13, 2022, at Langley Gardens Care Home, at the age of 82. She was born May 9, 1939, to Aslaug and Roy Bussey in New Westminster. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 1998. Ernie and Joan loved to roam in their RV, ticking off all the spots they visited on maps. In her early years, Joan worked in the grocery industry, ran a small business, and was a relator. Notably, Joan was the first woman to become Chair of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board. Joan’s passion was genealogy and tracking down “the ever-elusive ancestors” during her travels and at home.
Joan is survived by her children Deb (Bob), Cindy (Wally) and Rob (Wendy), grandchildren Karrie (Paul), Kris (Amber), Brad (Chrissy), Nicole, Sarah (Kyle) and Mike, great-grandchildren Garrett, Colin, Balian, Michael, Max and Liam, her sister Jean, brother Norm, nieces Monica (Mark) and Denise. A graveside service will be held at Langley Lawn Cemetery May 9, 2022, at 11am.
We are so sorry to hear about Joan's passing, and that we missed her funeral... we would have loved to see you all again. The past 2 years of semi-isolation have been difficult for everyone, but I'm sure it was really stressful for those of you who couldn't always visit her as you would have liked. We have so many fond memories of chatting with her about ancestry/family connections in Norway. She made an amazing contribution to her entire family with her research. I hope we can all get together again soon - please keep us 'in the loop'!
