Nadine Steele

March 15th, 2021

67 years ago Nadine Steele was born in the same hospital in Nelson as her mother 21 years prior. Her years were filled with love, adventure and challenge. She started growing up in Salmo, and then did most of her schooling in Rossland. She earned her Bachelor degree at SFU and her Master’s of Education at UBC with her partner, Rocky Korchinski’s support. She worked for over 40 years in education in several Kootenay districts and finally in Surrey.

Nadine always felt her most important accomplishment was being a mom to two amazing daughters, Dr. Megan Korchinski (Dan Logan) living in Minnesota and Adrienne Korchinski  (Atlas and Maximus) living in Langley.

When Nadine lived in Nelson with the Piver family from 2000 to 2008, she used her organizational skills to corral medical professionals to join her to write and produce 3 adult comedy shows to raise money for the Nelson Hospital foundation. We believe she was hard pressed to decide if she should try her hand at Broadway.

Her retirement job in the Middle East enriched her life in a multitude of ways. And next, she joined her daughter, Adrienne, at the coast, finally settling in Langley.

Nadine is survived by her two daughter, her mother, Joan Steele, sister Cathy Fulcher (Peter), and Linda Prough (Alan), five nieces and one nephew.

Messages:

I am so sorry to hear of Nadine's passing. She had a great impact on me & my teaching career. Nadine was my first sponsor teacher while I participated in the SFU student teacher program in Cranbrook. I was amazed at how effective Nadine was at getting children to follow her instructions with the use of positive language. I wrote down the things she would say & forever after I copied Nadine's techniques. Nadine was an incredible model of what a teacher should be. I hope your memories will bring you comfort and warm your hearts despite missing Nadine. Your memories build a special bridge of love. Cheryl Place

I was saddened to hear of Nadines passing...although we weren’t friends, we did have many visits over many years while she had her hair done...and I watched the girls grow up...my sincere condolences to all who loved and cared for Nadine.

My condolences to the whole family on the passing of Nadine. It’s not at all easy to lose a loved one. May the knowledge of her being at peace ease your heartache. Love & blessings ❤️

I was so very sad and sorry to hear of Nadine's passing. I worked with Nadine in Student Services in Cranbrook, and learned so much from her. She was a dedicated and very talented teacher. She had a great sense of humour and we had a lot of fun on the job! I loved to hear about her daughters - she was so proud of both. My heart goes out to Nadine's family. I hope all the good memories will help ease the loss. With sincere sympathy, Barb Heathfield

I am so sorry for your loss. Nadine was a sweetheart and inspiration.

Nadine was a remarkable woman, creative, dynamic, energetic- both physically and socially, showing empathy, living by her principles, and having a wicked sense of humour. She certainly enriched the lives of those who knew her. I am so grateful that she came into my life.
