Bruce Marshall

December 10th, 2020

Bruce was a people person who always greeted you with a smile.

Born in Montreal 73 years ago he was proud of growing up there and in the Laurentians. He formed some lifelong friendships there and always enjoyed staying connected and visiting with these friends over the years.

As a young man Bruce was an avid skier and as he got older particularly enjoyed his skiing trips to Europe. He enjoyed hockey, was a loyal fan of “the Habs”, and had very fond memories of personally meeting several of the Canadiens players over the years.

Predeceased by his son Michael, he is survived by his wife Deb, Daughter Jenn, (Ian) and grandsons Ethan and Dawson, Sister Susan, nieces Laurie and Alison, nephew Nick, and their families, Brother in law Ron (Karen) and Niece Shawn, (Malcolm), great niece Marlo and great nephew Aidan. Nephew Regan, great nephew Nathan, Sister in law Maureen (John).

Bruce’s career with Air Canada saw him move to Vancouver in 1974 – where he met and married Deb and raised his family while living in Richmond B.C. for many years. Bruce had a good sense of humour and found great pleasure in making people laugh. He maintained a big interest in all the cars of his lifetime and his love of music of all kinds brought him much pleasure – he was known for his Elvis impersonation.

Volunteering in the community was important to Bruce as he was always interested in helping others – even after he wasn’t doing all that well himself.

Bruce loved to travel and enjoyed time with his family.

In later years, he suffered from dementia and received wonderful loving care from Menno Home in Abbotsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to - Mennonite Benevolent Society, 32945 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, B.C. V2S 1K1

Bruce will be missed by all who knew him.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

I just found out that Bruce has left us. A very good nature and heart person. Bruce volunteered with my department for a few years at City of Richmond. My condolence to Deb and his family.

We are so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. We've lost touch over the years, but we think of Bruce and you often and have only today discovered about his passing. Our thoughts are with you and your family and we send our sincere condolences. Dennis and Lexie Smith

Holy Father, Holy Spirit and Jesus please help Bruce Marshall’s family grief and know He has passed into the Kingdom of God and he is blessed! Amen jk

Debbie please know that my thoughts and prayers have been and continue to be with you as you grieve the loss of Bruce. As you know Bruce and I had a wonderful friendship and our relationship was filled with abundant fun and laughter. He was a kind man with a heart as big as the room and he was always willing to give a helping hand. His presence, uplifting smile, encouragement and warm friendly personality is missed daily. He was one of my residents that was always willing to try new things and looked forward to all the adventures that recreation would bring. He spoke of you often and loved you with all his heart. He told me often that you were his world and that he wouldn't know what to do without you. Take care of yourself and once this pandemic is over stop by and say "hello". Blessings, Debbie Block, Recreation
