Messages:

Rick, very sorry to see your dad has passed on. He was a great guy and saved my butt a few times at the school. When he was on council and I lived in Rossland he was my go to guy. He listened to me and got results. I am sure you will miss him very much

Hi Rick, I was so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. May it comfort you knowing that others are thinking of you at this time. Take care.

Thank you for all your kind messages. It is amazing how many people my Dad touched in so many different ways.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Rick. He was gentle soul. Know I am thinking of you at this tough time. Please let me know when there is a service. Sharleen

Alan & Gladys were our neighbours when we lived in the little green house & they lived in the big orange house. They were so good to us & our children. My condolences to the family & to Carol.

To Als extended family, Al you were one of many that never got your due recondition You did more for CUPE keeping it on a steady course over the 25 plus years. I was a member when a couple minor problems came up at work Al would phone the school board and say we need a little chat.Al we were very fortunate to have you as a leader and a friend.Gylie and Barb Wilcox

Evening, Rick. I read about your dad's passing in the paper. He certainly had a long life! Are you coming toTrail at all? We could go for coffe. Condolences

Alan was a great mentor for all things political and practical in the labour movement. I benefited from Alan’s wise counsel several times as I navigated the intricacies of the local scene in the 80’s. One of the most respected and valuable voices in the West Kootenays. Resting in peace after a life well lived. Just as Alan planned.

A very descent man and oh we did him a bad time. When student council PM we were piling logs outside the wood shop (for Sadie Hawkins) Someone called the police who cornered us in the alley! We tried to explain it was legit and Mr Underwood came out. Police asked if he knew us … he smiled and said “never seen them before, take “EM away officer” OMG …then he said “no it’s ok” ….pay back time for Mr Underwood! He was a good man, my thoughts are with his loved ones.

Mr. Underwood was not a custodian in my mind, he was my friend. We laughed so much and had so much fun. He even bought me a gift at Graduation and we remained friends through the years!!. Rest well Mr. Underwood, you were definitely a person that made a difference! I am proud to call you my friend!! Condolences to his family!!

So sorry to hear of Alan's passing. He was a fixture in the neighbourhood, at RSS, and in our community. He was a good and hardworking man, who bettered the causes he touched. My thoughts and prayer go out to Peter and the Underwood.family.

A friendly addition to the halls of RSS back in the day. I went to school with Peter, sad to see he has passed. Sincere condolences to family and friends.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Rick. Uncle Alan was a great soul. He always had a great story and told them with such vigor. RIP Alan
