Jeanette (Jean) Ruth Ashworth


It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanette Ruth Ashworth announce her passing on July 15th 2022 with her family by her side.

Jean was born in Trail, BC, grew up in Fruitvale and attended high school in Trail. Jean spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona where she met John Cheney and they continued to enjoy canyon hikes, playing seniors tennis, softball, dancing and social life. Jean loved gardening, hiking local mountain trails, huckleberry picking and participating in BC Senior Games in tennis.

Jean will be sadly missed by her partner John Cheney, Daughter Colleen (Jim) Rodger, Son Grant (Karen) McNamee, Son Gerald McNamee (Kerry MacInnis); grandchildren: Whitney, Cameron (Amanda) Rodger, Ben, Jake and Ayden McNamee and great-grandchildren; Danica, Abigail, Bailey and Adriana.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Margaret Dovey, brother Bruce Dovey, and husbands Ronald McNamee and Donald Ashworth.

John, Colleen, Grant, Gerald & family, we offer our condolences for the passing of Jean. For many years, Jean was a valued and beloved employee (and friend) to us. She will be missed. Thinking of you for your loss.

Condolences to Jean's family. My grandmother and Jean's mom were neighbours and Jean was my dad’s pen pal writing to him during the war. We still have her letters. May happy times see you through the days ahead.

To Jean’s family and to John, I am sorry for your loss. Jean was a great lady, she could do anything she set her mind too. I remember way back when she shingled the roof of her house, on Mill Road. I will miss her too. Ellen

John and Jean's Family, please accept my condolences in the loss of our Jean. I always enjoyed seeing Jean on the tennis court and playing with and against her. She is an inspiration to many, and her spirit shall carry on in our hearts.

Was so very sorry to hear of Jean's passing. She was such a lovely lady. My condolences to the family!
