David Campbell

April 6th, 2019

It is with such sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Campbell at age 84, he passed away in Langley Hospital on April 6th, 2019, with his family at his side. David is loved deeply by his wife Carol (married 51 years), son Troy (Ellen), son Todd (Christalenia), and grandchildren Taylor, Mikayla, Jayde, Ryken and Ty. As well as his sisters Glenna of Calgary, Alberta, and Bonnie (Greg) of Victoria, BC.

David was an active man his whole life, he worked as a “cowboy” on a ranch, truck driver, sheet metal worker, equipment operator, and heavy-duty mechanic. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, camping, and especially fishing. But most of all he loved his family and his Lord Jesus Christ.

David truly had a servant's heart, whether it was family, friends, or a total stranger he was always quick to offer a helping hand.  He was an amazing husband, father, papa of all, and friend, we miss him terribly but because of Jesus we know we will see him again.

His celebration of life will be held on May 4th at 1pm at Southridge Church 22756 48 Ave, Langley, BC.  Dave was always a “jeans kind of guy” so we are wearing our jeans for the celebration and you are invited to do the same if you would like.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.bcchf.ca in honour of Dave (an account has been set up in his name by Children’s Hospital.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

My Dave passed away Saturday morning at 10:30am April 6th with his family surrounding him. He had his sense of humour right to the end until he slipped into a coma. Thursday night they brought a stretcher into his room for me to sleep on and I shoved it right beside his bed, and with difficulty talking, he held up a finger to me and said "no touchy touchy". Typical Dave. Friday morning was the last time he tried to communicate. Friday night I crawled into bed with him and held him all night. We listened to our favourite music most of the night as I lay beside him. At 5am I got up, and didn't know what to do, so I decided to shave him, wash his face and hands, and when I creamed his lips, I'm sure he tried to smile (although medical people will say it's a muscle reaction), but I'm sticking with the smile. He looked so good and peaceful. He is home now with his Lord and Saviour, no more pain. I am so thankful that I got to look after him at home, stay with him in the hospital, and hold him until the end. I am also so thankful for my sons and their families for being at the hospital with me showing their love for their dad, for me and for each other. We are so blessed to have wonderful family and friends that kept us in their prayers and thoughts throughout this journey. I also want to thank all the Doctors and Nurses for their kindness to us. Thank you all.

I know today and the days to come will be difficult and some days will seem to be a blur or just simply drag on. But that is normal. Allow yourself to feel each emotion, please don't try to be strong or think that there is a time limit on how long you need to be sad, hurt.....BUT YOU NEED TO ALWAYS PROMISE ME THAT NO MATTER WHAT YOU WILL TALK TO US ABOUT HOW YOU ARE FEELING !!!! Todd and Troy will take comfort in this process with you. We are ALL Family, we want to be there for each other. We will always be here to help you, You are not alone. LOVE YOU VERY MUCH XOXOXOX Christalenia

Such a difficult process to go through, but it sounds to me that you made it better and special for Dave. Sending my sincerest sympathy and love!

So sad to hear of Dave's passing! We grieve with you. One day soon we will all rejoice again together with the King of Kings's

Mark and I extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family

We're shocked and so very very sorry to hear about Dave's passing. You're such a wonderful couple and so full of love and respect for each other. So admire his sense of humour and fun. Love you sharing his comment about "no touchy touchy"! Classic Dave for sure. No doubt you and the boys are dealing with incredible heartache, but hope there is also some relief in knowing that his pain is now gone. Keep surrounding each other with your love and memories of Dave. He was a good, strong and wonderful man.

Well Carol, what can I say, you know how I feel about Dave so I need not say any more. Carol, you did a wonderful job in snagging Dave because you both were meant for each other and it was that bond of love that endured. Not many people have that luck and then to top it off, have two wonderful boys and their families to enjoy. Like you, we will miss Dave but don't worry, Dave will be watching over you and the boys with his love. Love to your family from mine, Duncan and Eroica

We don’t have the words to express how much we will miss Uncle Dave, or as our kids liked to call him “silly Uncle Dave”. We have such wonderful memories of him always being so helpful and caring. Bob will miss sharing fishing stories with him, about the ones that got away! Lol All our love, we are always here if you need us.

I am very sad and sorry that I will not be able to make the service for Dave on Saturday. My thought and prayers are with you and your family. I will cerish the many holidays were had with you at Loon Bay Resort. The stories that Dave and Garry would tell about the fish that got away and how it got bigger very time the story was told. I think of you often. Take care. Lynn & Troy Tite

My family will always have a pleasant smile on our faces when we remember Dave, Mr. Campbell. I think of the day we first attended the Northwest Langley church. After the service Dave invited us to come for lunch at their home. I can still see him smiling with the door wide open. Future endeavors were always the same. My children learned to water ski behind his boat. We never even thought about the gas!! they later said as adults. I am so sorry that you have lost him. I understand the gap. We thankfully have a big but -- because we know where he is. A place unimagineable and free of pain. He's probably watching and I can imagine him holding that door wide open. We thank God for our faith and the future that we will all share. Hugs and love from all the Cooks.

Our prayer as a family that GOD's ever Presence, Peace, Love and Provisions for you Carol and the Campbell family during this time and onwards. For a good (best) friend that I know, plus the assurance that he is now with the LORD and having the best time in his eternal life. When we meet again.

We have such fond memories of Uncle Dave, he was always so warm and he always made us laugh as he was always teasing us. Such a special man, to so many people. Love and prayers to everyone ♡

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Love to you Carol and all your family. Sharon

Dear Carol and family, our sincere condolences with the passing of Dave , we will remember him as a very kind , and sincere man! Who was always interested in a good confersation about his faith in God ,about history, and of coure fishing! He will leave a big hole , but our prayer is that all of you find comfort in knowing that one day you will meet again ! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ! For those who have acceped Jesus as their Lord and Saviour!

Mr Campbell was such a kind man. We knew him as quiet, helpful, respectful, and with a twinkle of mischief in his eye. :) So thankful for the gift and promise of Heaven and that you will see each other again. Yet, on this side of Heaven, there is still sadness at the loss of someone you love ... May God cover you in grace and comfort as you walk this journey of grief... Hugs, Rosa & kids

Our love and prayers are with you dear cousin, in the loss of your precious husband. We are so glad to know that Dave is with the Lord that he loved and served. We know that comforts you. We never met Dave, but we can sure see that he was loved and a joy to be around. We are glad the "funnies" we sent him brought a smile. Until the day that pain is gone, and we are all with Jesus, we pray that His peace and presence may be with you and your family. With deepest sympathy and love. Phylis & Elwin Andres

Dear Carol, Tod, Troy and families... We have so many wonderful memories of Dave, that will keep him close to us forever... If we went out in our truck, Dave would arrive with his squidgy bottle and cloth to clean our bug ridden windshield...one year when they didn’t have their car at the lake, Dave rode back and forth on his bicycle numerous times to get Carol ingredients for one of our pot lucks...the famous “151 rum” that caused your insides to burn for a long time...our $6.99 breakfasts at the 100 Mile Hotel, that we all enjoyed so much...rescuing our boat in the midst of a Cariboo wind storm...Dave and Rod telling stories about one that got away...the sturgeon fishing trip, that was on Dave’s bucket list... Dave and Carol are very special to us, we love them dearly, Dave is sitting at the right hand of our Lord, sending all our love Dave...until we meet again...❤️❤️

Carol, we were so sad to hear about your loss. We wanted to send you and your family our love and prayers. We really liked Dave. He had such a great sense of humor and are very thankful that we were able to know him. Cherish your memories and may God help to heal your broken hearts. Love Maurice and Lynda

"papa of all"...so lucky that we were also gifted that opportunity to call him papa. He was great fun to be around, often cracking the unexpected joke all with a quiet and simple demeanor. Thinking of you. Dorothy, Kyren and Hunter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family . Dave had a infectious smile . Hard not to smile back when around him .

Dave was one of the best men I have ever known. He loved the Lord and his family and lived a true Christian life honoring his Lord and savior as few really do. He loved and shared his whole life with his loving wife Carol and his boys who he loved , taught and served the very best he could, a better example they could not have had. They all shared a wonderful family life and they all thank God for giving them Dave. I am thankful for Carol and Dave's friendship and fellowship. He will be greatly missed.

Uncle Dave was a favorite of mine. He was so nice and always had something funny to say. Camping with you guys was great. And no, Uncle Dave, I don't want more corn. :) Thinking about and praying for Aunt Carol, Troy, and Todd, and families.

Carol, you and your family are in our prayers daily. We will always miss Dave and are blessed to have so many wonderful memories. All our love Elaine and Reg.

Aunt Carol, We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle Dave was a wonderful man, husband and Uncle and will be truly missed. We can rejoice in knowing that he is with the Lord and one day we will all be together again. We are keeping you and all the family in our prayers.

Prayers for you, Carol and your Family. Dave was a wonderful man who easily made people laugh and smile. 51 years of marriage, what a blessing. As a man of faith, how wonderful now to be present with the Lord.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Carol and the rest of the family. We remember how funny Uncle Dave was and I can still hear his laugh. He will be so missed, we are here for you. Love you!

Uncle Dave will be missed by us all. He was a joy to be around and always found a way to make people laugh and smile. My deepest sympathies go out to the immediate family and all the extended family. He was a great man. -James Allin nephew.

With such loving memories from my whole life knowing my brother David, and to have his wonderful family come into my life what a blessing. I send so much love and know that now he is in the hands of GOD, probably making all around him smile in good humor. He was a fun brother and we went on all sorts of little treks together off to see Kamloops, he would take my hand and off we would go on little adventures together. Thank you Carol for being there always for him and loving him so. To all the family, my deepest love goes out to you all. Sister, Auntie Glenna

On behalf of our Finning Retirees Association - we would like to express our deepest Sympathy to Dave's wife, Carol and their Family.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. We will also miss him and our outings with you both. Every time I look at our buildings I think about him (he painted so fast). Will miss all his joking around with every one. We are still here for you Carol, and will meet you anytime for a meal. I will bug you all the time sis. Love Dave and Sharon
