He never failed to tell us many of his many stories growing up in Holland, especially of the years just before the war.

He fulfilled his dream of immigrating to Canada and met his wife Alberta Hazelaar in Medicine Hat, Alberta and married in 1952. Together they had six children, Betty(Harald), Herman (Teryl), Margaret (Klaus), Chris (Chris), Christine (Kim) and Catherine (Bob); 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren (including great-grandchild, Mason Lockrem predeceased). He was predeceased by his parents, sister Mein, brother Fritz, brother Kaseand great-grandchild, Mason.

William became a Master Electrician and enjoyed his work He was a successful business man. His first company was Eastern Electric Ltd. and later became Foresyte Electric Ltd. Retiring just before his 80th birthday. It was his greatest joy to provide for his family and he was very proud of his accomplishments. He also had much pleasure in taking vacations with his family and enjoyed his many grandchildren.

Our father was a very loving generous man. He loved life and one of his favorite sayings was “If you’re not Dutch you’re not much” jokingly.

He loved the Lord with all his heart and did his best to walk uprightly before Him and looked to Him for guidance especially in the later years of his life.

We love you Pap, and miss you already. We are comforted knowing you are resting in the Secret place of the Most High!

Many thanks to staff at Chinook Intercare Calgary for taking such good care of our father. The family will be planning a private service.
