Charles from Montreal, Quebec passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 76 years after a courageous battle in ICU following complications of Covid.

Charles will be lovingly remembered and so missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet (née Baldwin); his children, Rick and Susana; his brothers, Bob and Paul; his grandchildren, Claire, Sophie, Charlotte, Carlos, Javier, Guillermo, and Santiago; daughter-in-law Stephanie Werner-Jané; and son-in-law Orlando Andrade. He is also mourned by his many extended family members and friends. Charles was pre-deceased by his parents, Carlos Manuel Jané Ferrer and Isabel Madeline "Pat" Jané (née Cooper), but was fortunate to have a stepmother, Helen Claudette "Nancy" Jané (née Thompson) who is also mourning his passing. His brother Howard Jané whom he loved dearly also predeceased him. Charles especially valued family and maintained strong connections with his extended family who live in Barcelona, Spain, Canada, and the United States. Charles enjoyed a lengthy retirement after working for Air Canada for more than 35 years which enabled him to pursue his passion for travel and visiting family.

A Catholic mass will take place for Charles at St Paul's Church in Airdrie, Alberta on September 16, 2022, which will be available at the following Youtube link  https://youtu.be/lOBXsHTs85k.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (https//kidney.ca).

It is with great sadness we learn of the passing of Charles. We send sympathy to Janet and all the family! Charles and Russell were friends from 5 years old and never lost touch of each other over all the years. Russell was part of Janet’s and Charles wedding. As young married couples we discovered at the same time we were having our first sons. Whenever we were back in town at Christmas we made sure to be together. There is nothing like childhood friends! I’m happy to think they are raising a glass together again ! Hugs to all the family and I’ll see you in Ile Bizard

I have known Charles for about 10 years and in that time we spent a week with him and Janet in Cuba. A wonderful time to be spent together. We had other times together in Montreal and Aurora. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Janet, Sussana, Rick and family on Charles demise. Those are great memories that Patti and I will cherish.

My deepest condolences to you Janet, Rick & Susana. I missed Carlitos very much when he moved to Calgary. I’m so fond of Carlos because he was the best friend of my late husband Jose Victoria.they were friends from work so they always got together for lunch, dinner or a happy hour for their “Cuba libre”. They went on holidays together and their favorite place was the Dictor’s cave beach in Montego Bay. I’m sure they are together now in heaven having their Cuba libre. Rest In Peace Carlos. I thank you very much for your friendship to Jose. God bless you. Love, Jojo

My sincerest and most heartfelt sympathies Mrs. Jané, Ricky, and Susana. You have all been in my thoughts. Sending you all my love. Katherine xoxo

My heartfelt condolences to my beloved sister, Janet; to her two awesome children, Ricky and Susana; their families which include three beautiful daughters (Ricky) and four handsome sons (Susana) as well as Ricky's beloved wife Stephanie and Susana's beloved husband Orlando. My heartfelt condolences as well to Charles' beloved brothers, Bob and Paul. Charles Robert Jane will truly be missed for his generosity, good humor and hospitality. RIP Charles. Life is more wonderful under the yuca tree in paradise!

Sending you our deepest condolences in loss. Growing up so closely with Susana, I only have found memories of Mr. Jané. You are in my thoughts. Rest In Peace.

Querida Janet, Ricky y Susana.

I first met Charles during our high school days and again a few years ago, when he found me on Facebook. Charles was such a kind and gentle soul with a deep belief in God, and a delightful sense of humour. We corresponded a few times a week until he took ill. I prayed for and awaited his return, but it was not to be. Charles’ illness was a roller coaster ride for all of us, but especially for his family, whom he dearly loved. I will always cherish his friendship and send my deepest sympathy to Janet, Susana, Rick, Bob and Paul.

Charles was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Travel was his greatest teacher & passion. Charles and Janet would often relive all their wonderful trips both cultural and fun filled family times. Over 51 years ago, Pat (Charles’ mom and I) schemed over several drinks over several months to get Charles & Janet to meet. The rest we knew would take care of itself. To be honest, it was meant to be (two peas in a pod) through love, patience and hard work ….over 50 years ….a rare feat nowadays. Rick and Susana continue this example of love and their 7 beautiful Jane grandkids carry on these values of faith & love of family.

Please know that we are sending you love and strength during this difficult time. Our deepest sympathies to Susana and the entire family.

Queridos Janet, Susana y Rick. Tu sonrisa. Seguirás en mi corazón. Siempre. Hasta cuando sea Charles. Te quiero. Os queremos familia. Un beso fuerte. Carlos

Queridos todos. He de escribiros en español para poder expresar nuestra tristeza y amor por Charles y todos vosotros. Charles estará siempre en nuestros corazones. Luis y Adela
