Raymond A. Chastakoff

January 16th, 2020

Ray passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital at the age of 76 after several years of suffering with COPD.  He was able to leave us with dignity on his own terms and we are extremely grateful to the team at MAID for their help, professionalism and guidance.  Ray was born in Saskatoon and moved to Calgary in the early sixties.  He embraced his love of music (especially country) and played bass for several years with various bands in Calgary.  Having first worked for White Ram Knitting, he then moved on to become a journeyman pipefitter through UA Local 496. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cindy; and their special friend, Todd Carriere and his family.   He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Bob; and his beloved buddy, Gizmo.  Thank you also to the physicians and staff at the 3rd Floor High River Hospital and to our wonderful friends for their support.  Ray was very adamant that no funeral be held, so an informal Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice or to Claresholm Animal Rescue – CAReS, PO Box 2579 Claresholm, AB T0L 0T0 or to High River Health Foundation, 560 - 9th Ave, High River AB T1V 1B3.

Messages:

Dear Cindy. My sincere condolences on Ray's passing. I worked with Ray during his time at White Ram. Ray was a really nice fellow and fun to work with. I have not seen Ray for many years but remember him as one of the good guys. Time heals all and will for you also.

Cindy, I was recalling the great times we had going to listen to Ray's band. Those were some great times. I was also wondering where his son was living, but see he had passed away. I hope life is kind to you now and allows you time to heal. I know I haven't been there beside you like the awesome coffee girls but I have kept you in my thoughts and close to my heart. Take care Cindy and if you need anything that I can help you with, do not hesitate to call me. Babe & Rex

My Heartfelt sympathy to you Cindy, my dear friend. Thinking of you with compassion and love. You are in my thoughts and prayers now and always. Bless you Cindy through this difficult time.

Hey Cindy, Our hearts go out to you. It is so hard to find the right words, but know you are in our thoughts. Much Love and Hugs. Randy and Laura
