Troy Irvine

July 4, 1980 - April 17, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Troy Irvine on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the age of 38.  He was born in Edmonton and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon.  After graduating from high school Troy was a young, energetic man who worked in numerous positions with YTG and the First Nations dealing primarily with youth.  His energy and quiet understanding disposition helped mentor many young people to pursue an active productive lifestyle.  His skills at this time were in active sports, counselling and technology.

Troy proceeded to further his knowledge in computer skills by completing coursework in technological communication.   This led to a move to Grande Prairie and a position with TOG Communications Systems.  His main responsibility was setting up high tech communication systems for the oil and gas industry at well sites.  Troy was a valued member of the TOG ‘family’ based in Valhalla, Alberta. Prior to his illness, Troy was living in Airdrie working out of the TOG Calgary office.

Troy met Allison Beckman in 2004 while both worked with youth in the city of Whitehorse. Similar interests led to an instant friendship that evolved into a lasting loving relationship.  They were married in Maui on April 3, 2012.

Troy’s broad range of interests included kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, snowboarding, skate boarding, slow pitch, boxing and fitness training. In addition he was a gaming expert and played with individuals across North America at the highest level.

Love of life and enthusiasm were paramount to Troy.  He is survived by his loving wife, Allison and a long -time family friend Finnigan, the family dog; and mom, Geraldine.
