Richard Francis de Souza

It is with great sadness we announce Richard de Souza passed away suddenly in Calgary on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the age of 34 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his family: father, Hugh; brother, Martin; sister, Nicola and extended family in the UK and elsewhere, as well as numerous friends around the globe.
Richard was predeceased by his mother Mary in 2007
He will be forever remembered for his loving and sensitive nature, his deep intelligence and wide knowledge, his mastery of electronics, computers and software from which we benefited so frequently.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1305 Main St S, Airdrie, AB. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 10:00 - 10:45 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (https://secure.cmha.calgary.ab.ca/donate)

Dear Hugh, Martin and Nicky It is with great sadness we heard of the death of Richard. We had the pleasure of meeting him on his frequent visits to London and more recently when he returned to see Louise, his grandmother, when she was unwell and subsequently, for her funeral in August. At this sad time we hope you are comforted by the knowledge he is at rest in a better place. May all your happy memories help you through this difficult time and ease your sorrow in the days ahead.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Richard at L-3 WESCAM during my co-op and he was always a great spirit. We had dinner a bunch of times before I moved off to California. Good memories. Rest in peace, friend.

Sending so much love out to Richard’s family. He was a wonderful person - smart, kind, funny, genuine. I was lucky enough to get to know him on our trip to South Africa in 2014 and will always remember him and his sense of adventure fondly.
