June Carol Cousens

September 2nd, 2019

June Carol Cousens (Deane) of Cochrane, Alberta

May 25, 1949 – September 2, 2019

It is with great love and sadness, we announce, June went to be with the Lord peacefully on the morning of September 2, 2019, ending her four and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was 70 years young.  She was surrounded by her family and a few friends when she passed.  June will be lovingly remembered by husband, Bruce Cousens of 31 years; 3 children and their spouses, Lane & Char Irvine, Lee & Michelle Irvine and Kara & Terry Reimer; grandchildren, Zackariah Irvine, Cadence Irvine, Cole Irvine, Levi Reimer, Jake Irvine, Micah Irvine & Tyson Reimer.  All of these she loved and touched deeply.  Her legacy will live on.

June was a dedicated wife, mother and nana.  She treasured her family but especially loved her role as nana.  She had a vivacious personality and always made others around her feel loved and cared for.  Shy, reserved, introverted and meek, said no one ever in describing her.  June’s passion poured out of her while doing any activity.  She loved being a teacher, principal and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students.  June did her very best to live the most full life possible.  She loved being in God’s creation and being with her horses and many other animals.  June was strong willed and never gave up.  She wanted to do and be better, every day.  In the last several years June really enjoyed her time in Mesa, Arizona where she picked up many new hobbies including pickle ball, biking, and exploring the desert both on foot and horseback.  June will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 ‘And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.’  She felt we should live our faith not just speak it.

Please help us in celebrating her life on Friday, September 6, 2019, at 3pm at Bow Valley Christian Church, 5300 53 Ave NW.  In lieu of flowers please honor June with donations to Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca) or Make a Wish Foundation (www.makeawish.ca).

Kara,Bruce and family, I am so very sorry to learn of June’s passing. She was a lovely lady and so proud of her children and grand children. Thoughts are with you all in this very difficult time.r6qfzt

Bruce and family - our deepest condolences on June’s passing. I just found out. Another Angel gone to soon. She will be forever in your heart. Such a wonderful person that as neighbors we came to know. Condolences to you and your family.

June was such a treasure. I have fond memories of being hosted at Bruce & June's with 20 other church college & career kids on many occasions. Later in life, to have been welcomed with my husband to drop in at Salmon Arm and share a few days camping at the lake. June was a welcoming host with her trademark smile and a ready hug. She was also a strong mentor, a woman who helped guide countless others with her wisdom and discernment. She loved others with a Godly love, and embodied the words of Proverbs 31. I know she is dancing with her Saviour and is smiling as she watches her family and friends from heaven. Her legacy lives on in all of us who were touched and loved by this amazing lady!

The very sad news of June's passing reached me in Germany and I am sorry not being able to attend the Celebration of Life for my dear friend. My sincerest condolences to the whole family.

Bruce and all the family, you've been in our thoughts and prayers for some time now and will continue to be. June touched my life for the first time as an amazing teacher in grade 9 and she was a kindred spirit in her love of horses and literature. Such a passionate and enthusiastic person who shared with others the joy of the Lord and life! We're continuing to pray for you all for peace and healing as you grieve. With lots of love, The Bouwmans ❤️

I will miss her Joy of Life and Generosity ! Condoleances Bruce & Family XoX

Dear Bruce, and Lane, Lee, Kara and families. Praying the Lord’s comfort through this difficult time of having to say goodbye, albeit temporarily, to a very special lady - June/Mom/Nana. I am so sorry to hear of my dear friends passing. I am so thankful for and treasure her friendship and our precious memories. We shared many walks, hikes, waterskiing, boating, kayaking and visits over the years. When Bruce called I was in my classroom and had just dismissed 20 lively Kindergarten students. June would have chuckled at that. June and I shared many interesting teaching stories during our times together during summer vacations at the lake. My dear friend passed away on my birthday, Sept 2 which is meaningful to me as I am encouraged to live life joyfully and fully as my friend June did so well. I send my heartfelt condolences to Bruce and family and all those whose lives June touched. Love From Sherry Knipe

Thinking of you during this difficult time. God bless.

My heart aches. June was the bestest. Best friend, team partner, principal, cheerleader, ear and so much more. I will miss her dearly as time with her was precious. I will miss her encouragement and wisdom. She helped shape who I am. Yes my heart aches, but she is healed, happy and home.....and waiting to see us all. Bye for now. Evan

June’s giving heart, bubbling personality and sweet smile will be dearly missed by her Arizona winter neighbors. We know she’s at peace and send loving hugs to Bruce and the children, grandchildren and many friends who will miss her in their lives.

Junie B. was a great friend for many years and will be sadly missed but having walked with her on many an occasion, I am glad she's finally at peace dancing with the Lord with no more appointments or procedures to have to endure. She definitely lived life to the fullest and was always there cheering you on with her wonderful smile and great laugh... she was always so much fun... hugs to all of the family... memories will not be forgotten.

Our trip in October was to have included an extended time supporting June in any way possible, but the LORD ended her pain sooner rather than later. We are sooo grateful she is out of pain. I am so glad she is with her Shawn Ryan (I think was the best friend horsie's name) and all other loved ones already in Heaven. We will continue to pray for all of you. Love from Bill and Joanne

I wish we could be there in person to express our love and sympathy, but know that we hold you all close in prayer and trust that our Lord will strengthen and bless you during this difficult time. We were all so blessed to have Aunt June in our lives and will forever carry her love in our hearts.

Our deepest sympathy and hugs to all

We loved June. We spent a lot of time together in Mesa. Trying to get her to slow down when her hip was hurting was not an option. We’re so glad we saw her in June and got to meet some of her family. Our deepest sympathy to each of you.

We will miss our special friend but know we will meet again in heaven. Will think of her specially when we play wizard in Mesa. We had some great evenings around the kitchen table fighting it out to see who would win. Loved our special times in our small group bible studies. Thank you Lord for allowing June to be a part of our lives! .

So sorry for your loss of a beautiful soul.... heavens gain. ... thinking of all of you ... with love.

I have enjoyed so many great years working with this fabulous woman in Calgary as her teacher's assistant and the kindergarden children. Field trips wt June never were boaring and farm trips for sure a blast. She helped me also in my spiritual life. June will be missed enormously. Let us all make sure we know her God . He's the only way into the pearly gates. My condolence to all . Love Bonnie
