BAERG, Donna Marlene

1938 – 2019

Donna Marlene Baerg passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Sundre, Alberta.  She was born August 3, 1938 in Olds, Alberta.  Donna was the tenth and youngest child of Hale and Cora Gochee.  She met her husband, William John (Bill) Baerg and married on May 11, 1964 in Vancouver, BC.  They moved to the Edmonton area where Bill worked on the oil rigs.  In 1969, Bill got a job to work on the offshore oil rigs.  There, they packed up the family and first moved to Singapore.  From there they lived in many countries; Burma, Indonesia, Iran, West Africa, India and finally Dubai.  In 1987, Bill retired from Reading and Bates and moved back to Alberta where they eventually made their home in Bergen.  Bill and Donna continued to make their home in Bergen until the passing of Bill on October 24, 2010, where Donna sold her house and acreage and moved into town.

Donna is lovingly remembered by her children, Keith (Dezi) Baerg of Sundre, Sherry (Todd) Woodward of Yellowknife, NWT; grandchildren, Reiley Baerg, Mitchell Baerg, Crystal Solomon, Killian Jackson, Gabe Woodward and Andrea Baerg.  She is also survived by her only sibling, Lois Carlyle of Sundre; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Donna was not only predeceased by her husband, but also by her stepdaughter, Joyce Anne Baerg in 2008.

Donna will always be remembered for loving to spend time with her family and the endless games of Yahtzee.  She looked forward to wiener roasts at Wayne & Gwen Gochee’s with all her extended family and was always asking her grandsons and nephews to get out their instruments and play her some music.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bergan Hall on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 12:30 pm.
