Messages:

Wally; My friend and classmate at Montana State University. Wally and I roomed together where took his Phys. Ed and teaching. Wally was one of my closest friend while going to university and learning the ropes while being away from home. He had a great sense of humor. Loved his hockey and played for Montana state University hockey team against the Russian team. this was a very happy time for him to be able to experience such competition. He felt it would help him in his hockey and teaching career to know and understand your competition. A great and loyal friend, a classmate, and someone you could always talk to. Western Canada High School will miss him. Montana State hockey missed him and now we will also miss him. A once in a lifetime friend.

Very sad to see my “coach” pass away. I remember when Wally began his teaching career at Oilfields High in 1962. He sacrificed many long hours coaching junior and senior teams in many sports. My kindest regards to his family. Thanks coach.

I was very saddened to hear of Wally's death. Wally was a teacher, a coach, a mentor, a role model and most importantly a friend over the 50 plus years that I know him. His unique personality, his wit and his sense of humour will most certainly be missed by those of us who knew him. Condolences to his family. Ron & Debb McLaren
