Robert "Bob" Edgar Hunter

December 10th, 2017

Robert Edgar Hunter February 29, 1936 – December 10, 2017

Bob was born in Calgary, Alberta and lived in Langdon, Alberta for the first nine years of his life.  The remainder of his life was spent in Airdrie, Alberta where he lived on the family farm until 2007, retiring to the city life in Airdrie.  He grew up on the family farm raising cattle until he entered the trucking industry for 27 years.  This venture took him across North America hauling cattle and horses and gave him the opportunity to meet a vast number of people and many memorable experiences.  In total, he acquired over 3 million miles that he had driven on the road and was proud of his clean driving record given the distance he went.  He had a unique sense of humor and the uncanny ability to know people by association.  No matter who he met, he was able to identify a mutual acquaintance.  Bob and his family enjoyed their summers with lifelong friends in Garfield Bay (Sandpoint), Idaho with many hours spent boating, water skiing and golfing.  Later in life, he enjoyed winters in Arizona and had a love of the west coast.  He was an avid sports fan of all kinds.  Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years; Jean Forsythe Hunter, one son; Ken Hunter, one daughter; Susan Grant (Christopher) and one granddaughter; Taylor Grant.  Special thanks to Lori Allison and Sharan Bennett for their care, companionship and friendship that they provided to Bob during the last 1.5 years.  A Celebration Come and Go Tea will be held at the Crossfield Hall on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance https://foundation.stars.ca/AB-tributegift.

Messages:

Our heartfelt sympathies to you Jean, Ken, Susan & families.

Bob was a great man. I am glad to have gotten to know him, Jean & Kenny. Bob hauled Crystalyx back North from his cattle runs to the states. He would fill the belly of his stock trailers with feed and head North. He always laughed about the semis being blown off the interstate and he just went on by. He was always coming up with a solution. I had fun visiting them at the ranch it was such a beautiful place. He always had a great story. Sorry for the families loss. Love Rhonda

Jean, Ken, Susan, Chris and Taylor. Our condolences to you all. I was so sorry to receive your message that Bob had passed away. We so enjoyed all the times you came to Shelburne to help us celebrate good times and sad times. Family meant a lot to Bob. Our hearts will be with you on Friday at the celebration of life

Sue so sorry to hear about your Dad. The loss of a parent is very difficult. Hugs to you and your family. Love Auntie Shari

Thinking of you at this time and remembering the walks with my daughters to the bottom of the hill to visit the animals in the barn. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Mary Parker and family
