Arnold Anton Sarauer

Arnold Anton Sarauer peacefully passed away on March 13, 2020 at 1:20 am at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in the presence of his family at the age of 88. He was born in Saskatchewan to John and Catherine Sarauer.  Arnold is survived by his wife Irene, brother Wilfred (Evelyn), children Randy, Myrena (Guy) Bishop, Roxanne (David) McDonald, Wayne (Barbara), Grandchildren Shane (Dawna) McDonald, Jessica Mancor, Crystal (Jonathan) Matthews, Michael, Ashleigh, John, Colin, Catherine, Sarah, Mary, Great Grandchildren Darien, Solace, Juniper and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arnold and Irene married on August 1, 1956 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Muenster, Saskatchewan. They settled in St. Gregor and in 1960 moved to Davidson, Saskatchewan where Arnold ran the Texaco Bulk and Fuel Service Station for 12 years. They then moved the family to Abbotsford, BC in 1972 where Arnold continued working as a mechanic until he retired. Along with Irene he also played his accordion in a musical band at several venues and dances throughout the lower mainland. Arnold also really enjoyed hunting, curling, reading and mostly visiting with friends and family. He was very involved with the Kiwanis and especially the St. Ann’s Parish Knights of Columbus where he also served a term as Grand Knight.

His sense of humour, willingness to help, and big smile will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral mass will be Thursday March 19, 2020 @ 9:30 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave. Abbotsford, BC.  Prayers and viewing will be Wednesday March 18 @ 7:45 pm at St. Ann’s.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul National Council of Canada or request a mass for Arnold at any Catholic Parish.

Dear Aunt Irene and family. We are with you in prayer as we have Eugene Kuemper's funeral on the same day as Uncle Arnold's. As I offer Dad's funeral Mass, I will be offering also for your whole family and for Uncle Arnold's swift entry into eternal life.

I am Arnold's cousin.nee Linda Scott. Your Dad is survived by one Aunt, Ella Scott who was your grandma's sister. She will be 97 in Nov. One of my precious memories of your Dad is the last time we visited with your Dad and MOM YOUR DAD AND I played the accordions together. That was such a highlight to me.Give your mother a hug for me and all and our deepest sympathy is coming From Aunt Ella, cousins Wayne Linda, Elda and families. Also Say hi to your brother Wayne and family. Wayne came out with your Dad for Mom and Dads 60th wedding anniversary. Also your dad took us over to visit Wayne and his family when we were there.I think you girls were away then.

Condolences Irene and family. We feel sorry re the world circumstances of COVID-19. But we all need to be vigilant to put HEALTH as top priority. Hugs and love to all the family.hn3h58
