Gerald Lyle Mitchell

Lyle passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 62 years. Lyle was an avid outdoorsman , always respected nature, cared about the environment, and loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Lyle was also a skilled athlete playing hockey and baseball. He was known for his sense of humour, always liked to play jokes and was a friend to all. Lyle worked in the oilfield service industry. Lyle is lovingly remembered by his son, Chris (Crystal); daughter, Tanya; son, Jonas; step-daughters, Corrie (Scott), Jodie (Troy); grandchildren, Brittany, Hunter and Ashton; sisters, Larene, Shelley (Bruce), Arlene, and Stacey. He will also be missed by his uncle, Larry; aunt, Flora; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all their families. Lyle was predeceased by his wife, Jo Ann; his heart sister, Kathy; parents, John Mitchell and Lynne and Peter Kotyk. So sorry to hear of Lyle's passing. He was a kind hearted man. I remember fondly all the fun we kids had over the many hours, and days I spent at "The Mitchells". I ran into Lyle a few times since I left the Diamond, and always had a nice visit with him. Love and prayers to his family.
Sad to learn of Lyle's passing. Have not lived in Black Diamond for many years but have fond memories of Lynne and Johnny. My daughter and Stacy were the same age and in Brownies at the same time. I knew the family and I send sincere sympathy to his sisters on his loss at such a young age.

I had the privilege of knowing this great man since I was 6 years old. We started out in grade one together. Lyle was one of the most caring men I’ve ever known. His sense of humour was incredible, and you could never forget his laugh. Lyle was the guy you always wanted on your side for anything! From sports to an argument. Lol. I remember we used to call him “squeaky “ in his early teen years. Lol. I didn’t get to spend much time with him over the past years, but he was always happy to see me when we did have a chance to visit. We could pick right up where we left off. I’ll miss ya till I see ya again my friend. Lots of good people waiting for you up there with open arms big guy. God bless ya Lyle!
We were so sorry to hear the sad news of Lyle's passing. We have many great memories of Lyle over the years, and of all the laughs we shared together. He will be missed! Our thoughts, prayers, and very deepest sympathies are with the Mitchell family.
