WEATHERBY, Robert (Bob)

February 7, 1948 – March 3, 2019

Robert (Bob) Lawrence Weatherby passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the age of 71. Born February 7, 1948 in Nova Scotia, Bob was a loving husband to his wife Marge and together, they raised their family and worked side by side for many years in their meat shop in Redcliff, Alberta before settling to Strathmore, Alberta.

Bob was always a kind, gentle, and temperate man who treated everyone with respect and dignity. After closing their business, he remained passionate about his treasured recipes and continued to smoke his own meats and jerky, sitting vigilantly for hours outside the smoker door quietly reading, ever watchful to produce a quality batch time after time to which he generously shared with family and friends. Bob also worked in the offices of ASM Industries in Calgary for many years and took as much care and interest in doing that job as he did in his own business.

Through his warm smile and tongue in cheek humour, he loved to share a story or three with anyone who would listen and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was quick to share with great pride the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He has left a profound mark on all the lives he has touched and will be dearly missed.

As per his wishes, there will be no service, but friends wanting to commemorate the generous life of Bob are asked to donate to the Strathmore Overnight Shelter (102 Canal Gardens, Strathmore, AB T1P 0C4) or contact them through their website at http://www.strathmoreovernightshelter.com

Messages:

So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Our condolences to Marge and the family. Bob was with us in Vegas when we got married in 1993! Great man that will be missed.

I was sad to read that Bob had passed away what a great man Bob was. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when we purchased our house in Strathmore Oct 2007 on the same street as Bob. It was always my treat to meet Bob at the mail box for a chat. RIP Bob till we meet again

So sad to hear about Bob. He was a very wonderful guy. Sincere sympathies.

Our deepest condolences for you all and especially to his beautiful wife Marge whom he woke up to, laughed with, cried with but most of all raised a beautiful family and has a couple shared his life with. As a father and a grandparent he will be sadly missed by all the children whom I know have beautiful fond memories . May all the family find comfort in knowing that Bob is suffering no longer. Heaven has truly gained a beautiful angel

Dear Ryan, Juanita and family, Our hearts go out to you at this time of profound sadness and deep loss. You are in our prayers. Love you guys, Marcy, Scott, Stephanie and Family

R.I.P Uncle Bobby. So sad to hear of your passing. I wish I was able to have gotten to know you better before you passed away. I've heard many wonderful things about you from your siblings. We will see each other again. Then we will have eternity to get to know one another. My thoughts, love, and prayers go out his family and close loved ones. Heaven has now recieved another amazing soul to turn into an angel. He like others who passed before him will now be watching over us all from above. God bless.
