Gert Budd

1930-2019

Gertrude Elizabeth (Layden) Budd passed away on Monday January 14th,2019 at the Olds Hospice at the age of 88 years. She was born to Clarence and Anna Layden September 10, 1930.

Raised as a member of a large close knit farm family she married Bert (Albert) Budd on April 5,1950. Bert and Gert settled in the Reed Ranch area and started their family life.

Gert is lovingly remembered by three children; son Wesley (Carol), daughters Wanda (Dave) Okamura and Anita, grandchildren; Gregory (Joni Wielgoz) Budd and Elizabeth (Trent) Wilkie, great grandchildren; Rooen and Kobielle Locke and Opsahl and Grenley Wilkie, sisters; Eileen Keller and Elva Knight, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Gert was predeceased by; her parents, husband Bert, brothers Wilfred and Raymond, sisters; Laverda Ernst and Doris Schneider, sisters in law; Elsie Layden, Linda Layden, Genny Layden, Betty Gudnason, Bernice Budd, Grace Wiggett and Beth Budd, brothers in law; John Keller, Robert Knight, Alfred Schneider, Carl Ernst, Reg Budd, Bill Wiggett, Milt Budd and John Gudnason.

Funeral services to be held Tuesday, January, 22 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wimborne Community Hall, 109-1 St. S., Wimborne, Alberta.

Interment to follow at the Mayton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Olds Hospice P.O. Box 4321, Olds, AB T4H 1P8, Canadian Cancer Society 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB  T2E 2P5 or a charity dear to you.

Dear Wes and Carol, Wanda and Dave, Anita and your families. We think of you at this time of hard partings and send our sympathies. I think of the memories that will forever be in my heart, of all the things wonderful that Auntie Gert has meant and been to me. I truly believe that in all my years I have never heard her say a negative thing about anyone! She loved us with her huge heart and has been a true inspiration in what it is to be a truly GOOD person. Through our growing up years, Auntie Gert taught us how to make do with what we had and just wanted the best for us all the time. Her baking and hospitality was second to none. Yes, we did love her and will keep her memories alive in our hearts. Also, I feel that her love and pride in her kids and grandkids has always been absolute! She loved you all with a tremendous passion and her beautiful eyes would absolutely sparkle and shine when speaking of any of you! We will be thinking of you all in the days ahead take care.
