Donald Joseph MacDonald

November 17th, 1943 ~ September 30th, 2021

Don peacefully passed away in Langley, BC on September 30, 2021. He is now in his forever home with Jesus.

Don was born on November 17, 1943 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, growing up on a large dairy farm with 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Don served in The Royal Canadian Navy out of Halifax, Nova Scotia for 5 years. In the Navy he travelled to many places around the world.

He then moved to Calgary in 1975, where he worked as an electrician before becoming a realtor, eventually moving to BC in 1988, making his home in Langley for the last 29 years.

Don never wasted a day of his life wishing for things, instead he worked for and accomplished all of his goals, enjoyed his time exploring the world with his wife and family, attending car races, golfing, spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and family in Calgary and Nova Scotia. Don loved his career as a commercial realtor and worked as a partner with his wife Angie. He was a well known member of the Real Estate community where he served his clients with the utmost respect, giving him a very rewarding and fulfilling career. He treated his team and clients like family. He was actively working with NAI Commercial (Langley) Ltd. before he peacefully passed away. He drove his red corvette with pride, and was a member of the Langley Corvette Club.

Don lived a joyful and fulfilling life, was a gentle spirit, and you could always count on him to crack a joke, give you advice, or help you through any of life’s challenges. Don believed that “What goes around, comes around” - in other words “You reap what you sow”.

Don is survived by his wife Angelika (Angie) of 34 years and their two daughters, Katrina (Nico), Jessica (Cole), his former wife Ann and their two daughters, Cherie and Wendi (Brian), his grandchildren Darcy, Josie, Elizabeth and Taylor and his newest granddaughter-to-be due in January, siblings Alan (Sandy), Diane (Dave), Betty, Doug (Joan), Shaun (Jackie), sister in law Jane, Parent in-laws Erich and Anneliese, brother in-law Erich (Jenny), as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, great nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jessie MacDonald, his sister Rose, and his brothers Earl (Elaine), Archie (Francis) and Claude.

A special thank you is extended to the Langley Hospice, and all of the nurses and doctors that helped make Don’s last few weeks comfortable. We are eternally grateful for your love and devotion to caring for Don.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers we ask that you please support the Langley Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission and Langley Hospice Society or a charity of your choice.

We were Very sad to hear of Donnie’s passing. I had many good times with Donnie and many of the other Finns throughout the years, especially on the golf course, ski slopes, at Loch Katrina and of course 555 Penworth Way!! He was a great friend and will be truly missed. Donnie truly did have a great life and accomplished many things and here’s a cheer to the upcoming celebration of his life. To Angie and your daughters Katrina & Jessica and to Cherie and Wendi and families and all the Finn clan, our condolences and prayers. RIP Donnie. See you in Cape Breton! Mark & Teresa MacInnis. Waverley, N.S.

Angie, our deepest condolences from my family to you and the girls for the passing of Don. In my experience, Don was a funny, witty, kind, positive, sincere, made friends easily and an easy to talk with kinda guy; and oh ya, he loved a kitchen full of kids and chaos. You guys made the very best team on and off the field!!

I met Don through a business venture with a corporation that I was working for, Don always was so cheerful and so full of enthusiasm and positive for great outcomes. I too will miss Don, I am so glad to hear he is in the arms with our saviour Jesus. We will meet again. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to the family in this great loss. If there is anything I can do please don't hesitate to contact me at anytime. In Christ Owen Moore

Since the start of my family's business, we have had the pleasure of working with Don for nearly 30 years. He was a very professional friend and a great real estate advisor. We are sadden to hear about his passing and we will miss him greatly. Our condolences to Angie and the family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

I was so sad and surprised to hear of Don's passing. The only comforting thought for me was that he is now in the arms of his saviour, Jesus. We will all meet the meantime my prayers go out to Angie and the family as they walk through this time of grief and loss. He was a great guy to work alongside with and I never had to question his motives, integrity or desire to serve and help those around him.

I am sending hugs to all of you. I spoke to Wendi on the phone before Don passed away and mentioned to her, your dad is so cool!! Wendi and I grew up together in Calgary and we did a lot of things her Dad might not have approved of BUT he also knew we were kids and he would always be supportive and funny too! He will be missed.

Don and Angie were good friends that I have known for years. Always time for a chat, a gentleman for sure. I will miss him.

So sorry and surprised to hear of Donnies passing. A.B chisholm

Don was a true gentleman. He was a straight forward, no nonsense guy with a big heart and a quiet strength. He lived his life with dignity, integrity and honour and we miss him dearly. Godfather to our younger son and loyal friend for over 30 years. Our thoughts are with Angie and the family. May he rest in peace.

I really enjoyed dealing with, and just talking to Don. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. Whether getting advice on real estate matters or about cars, I always felt a little better for having talked to him. I'm glad to have had the pleasure of knowing him. My thoughts and prayers are with Angie and family.

My heart is very sad by Don's passing. I have had the great privilege of working in the same office with him for over 18 years. Don was always quick with a smile and chats, he had a great sense of humor. We spoke often of our love of the east coast and going "home" for visits. I feel a void knowing I won't be seeing him at the office any longer. May you find peace and love in the memories you cherish.

Don Macdonald and I worked together in the early eighties at Re/Max Mountain View and, he had a sure way of getting business. He was a dedicated Realtor. Willing to help out at any time if you have a problem. I will never forget one memorable moment when Barclay, Ernie, and I did a CCIM course in Vancouver in the late eighties and Don and Angie invited us over for dinner. We had such a great time that we missed our flight back to Calgary. He was an entertainer and a chef. Thanks, Don.

Sandy and I have known Don for over twenty years and has expertly assisted us many times with real estate advisory services over the years. He has always provided us with excellent advise that we could trust when needed and He will be truly missed as an advisor, colleague and friend. Please accept Sandy and my Sincerest condolences and if is anything we can do during this difficult time.

Hello Angie It's terrible news to hear about the passing of Don. I would like to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family. Cam

Don had character; a belief system and ethics. I admired him as a colleague, and as a man of inner strength- I can't imagine he backed down from many things! I always felt Don had hidden depths, and stories to be told. His passing has left an empty spot in the real estate industry, and with his friends. He will be missed very much.

I have worked with the MacDonalds for the last 17 years at NAI. I stepped into the role of their Broker quite green, and was often challenged as I needed to earn the respect of very experienced, knowledgeable Commercial Realtors, arguably the most knowledgeable and respected Commercial Brokers in Langley. Over the years, we have grown to be good friends, sharing stories as our families grew and developed into adulthood, working through difficult and challenging deals, and sharing fellowship at the many office parties, get togethers and golf tournies. I will certainly miss talking with Don, when most everyone else in the office was gone about cars, the ones we wanted and wished we had. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your patience with me and the office at times. You will be missed by us all

I have known Don for many years. I could give him a deal and walk away knowing my clients were looked after. His dedication to his family, his friends and his life was amazing. Always happy and never phased. I will miss Don! Angie, I always said you were all Family to me! My heart goes out to you and your family!

Don was someone I’ve looked up to for as long as I’ve known him. He always conducted himself in a respectable way and was never too busy for a chat. I had the pleasure of working with him for the last 15 years and will very much miss spending time with him. He was a guy who treated clients like family and person you always knew you could trust. He will truly be missed.

Don was simply one of the most solid guys I knew. NAI won't be the same.

Don always had a smile and a pleasant way to put you at ease and you knew you were around a person that cared and was respectful of others no matter who they were. You will be missed. I'm glad I got to you know you and Angie for the bits of time we talked and shared. Always a gentleman.

Don was a collogue and a friend. I will miss doing deals with him an good times on the golf course. Great guy and I will miss him.

I will miss Don a lot. Through the years, we worked alongside each other on numerous purchases and sales. I learned early on that he had a broad knowledge, his word was his bond and his friendliness was authentic. God bless the family

We so enjoyed so many years of working with Don as our Industrial and Commercial Realtor, also as his friend of many years. Such a wonderful fellow to know and work with. So many great memories. Truly a great loss to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Love to you Angie and all his loving family.

Lovely obituary for a wonderful man. Condolances
