Sieglinde Janzen

November 21st, 2015

Sieglinde Janzen was born in Brazil to Gustav and Maria Janzen.

Sieglinde enjoyed a wonderful childhood playing in the rolling hills filled with wild flowers, chirping birds and the occasional rattle snake. At age 19 she boarded a ship with her younger brother and moved to Germany for one year and then joined her family who had immigrated to Canada.

At age 30 she invited Jesus into her life.  She lived in Kitsilano most of her life where she made life-long friends, served in her church, worked in the printing and magazine business and was a constant witness for her Lord.

Sieglinde was pre-deceased by her parents and her brothers, Johannes and Waldemar. She is survived by Siegfried, Hermann (Erica), Fridolin (Eva), Heidi (Gerry Peters), sister-in-laws Hilde Penner and Helga Janzen along with many nieces and nephews.

She fought a brief battle with lung cancer and entered into the presence of her Lord while her loved ones held her hands and sang Jesus Loves Me.

Funeral Services at King Road Church in Abbotsford on Wednesday, December 2. A brief viewing will be held at 10:30am at the Church, internment at Maclure Cemetery at 11:30 and Memorial Service at 1:30pm.

Messages:

I have been trying to track Sieglinde for a long time and today August 1, 2016, I realized she is gone. I can not believe that I have lost my good friend and shared many conversations and Sieglinde never visited me in Kelowna, BC. I met Sieglinde when I was about 12 years old in Richmond, BC, she was coming to pick strawberries, since then we kept in touch. I sent my prayers to the family and Sieglinde will be missed, a beautiful caring soul, until we meet again one day. Narinder Bansal

Sieglinde was the most faithful and alert member of my audience of Mennonite Low German speakers. She was unusually bright, laughed at all the right place and prayed when the sun of sorrow descended. She will be missed by all those who were right with the basics of life and of death. Ruhe sanft, Du holder Geist! In ewiger Liebe, Jack

Dear Friends and Family of Sieglinde It was with great sadness that we learned of Sieglinde's passing. I had known Sieglinde since the early 70's and have many fond memories. My wife and I last saw Sieglinde at the Vancouver Mission Fest a number of years back where she and her brother had supper with us. I remember her little guitar and the cute little songs she would sing and her great love of cats. In 1979 while visiting her in Vancouver she lead me to the Lord. We will always carry her in our hearts, you will be missed Richard & Monika

Dear family Sieglinde. My thoughts with you too. It was nice to see Sieglinde most of the time with smile and being strong, cheerful and never complained till her last days. In April 2014 after the concert in RCC, she shared with me very sad news about her illness. Her doctor predicted that she could survive for 6 months or she can suffer for 2 years with painful treatments. With smile she said that her chose was to see the Lord natural way. Without any questions I had offered her some help. We were doing together unpacking , packing boxes, garage sale, prepare to settle down in her new Yew's condo etc. Many times in spite of shortage breath, we had good laughs together. She will be missed. Inna.

Dear family of Sieglinde, my thoughts are with you. I have known Sieglinde since the early 1980s when we were learning to play domra/mandolin. She later helped me establish a mandolin orchestra which she played in whenever she was in town, and came to Germany to see a performance I was in last year. She was always cheerful and we had many laughs together. She will be missed by all the Melodious Mandolins.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7 Combati o bom combate, completei a corrida, guardei a fe'. See you later sister. Auf wiedezehen and da svidania. Francisco

May she rest in peace with our Lord.
