Sharon Elizabeth Evelyn Nicola Denvir

October 2nd, 2015

Sharon Elizabeth Evelyn Nicola Denvir left us too soon on October 2, 2015 at the age of 64 from a cardiac arrest brought on by an embolism caused by a blood clot that originated from a broken leg.

Sharon was born in 1951 in Tobermore, County, Londonderry in Northern Ireland to James and Elizabeth Denvir. She attended Saint Joseph’s Secondary School under the watchful eyes of the Sister’s of Mercy, then Oxford University and the London School of Music. She lived in England, Iran, and Jordan before settling in Canada.

Throughout her life, Sharon had many careers including air stewardess to the Royal Jordanian family, cabaret assistant manager, personal banker, assistant marketing manager, real estate consultant, and mortgage broker. But her true passion was for teaching.

She first taught English at the British Council in Teheran, Iran; and later Adult Basic Education and ESL at multiple Federal Correction Facilities in BC;  at Newcastle College; and at New Directions English Language School.

Her interests included cooking, crossword puzzles, reading, learning languages, dancing, traveling, and watching Coronation Street.  She spent much of her time and energy looking after her family and preparing lesson plans for her students.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Elizabeth; sisters: Anne, Heather, Helen, and Michelle; brothers: Alan, Brian, Colin, Eamon, Karl, and James; her daughter, Lianna; her sons, Lawrence and Liam; granddaughter, Kaelyn; and loved ones including nieces, nephews, friends, and countless students.

She will be missed and never forgotten.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
