Simon Groeneveld

On October 29th 2014 at Chilliwack Memorial Hospital, Simon Groeneveld left us to be with our Lord.  Born in 1942 in Sassenheim Holland, he came to Canada with his family in 1952.  He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Mary, 7 children, 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Adrian and Renee Groeneveld (Jared, Silas and Richelle) of Langley BC; Henrietta Garnett (Tommy) of Abbotsford; Mina and Jake Oostlander (Leanna & Derek (Logan and Jade), Jonathan & Kim, Kevin & Sarah, Jeff, Karen and Jason) of Fort Mcleod, AB; Jackie and Brian Koning (Darian, Noah, Branson & Emily, Jed and Amara) of Sardis; Kim and Pete VanMaren (Derek & Kaitlyn, Tristan, Lance and Adrienne) of Springford, Ont; Rick and Nancy Groeneveld (Holden and Payton) of Edmonton, AB; and Bob and Julaine (Ashley, Brandi, Kendra and Tyler) of Prosser, WA.  Also survived by his mother, Wilhelmina Groeneveld, sisters Alida, Lenneke and brother Andy.  He is predeceased by his father, Adrian, brother Pete and sister Wilma. 

Pops was known for his goofy sense of humor which made everyone around him laugh.  He was always a very hard worker right to the end.  He was very active in the church community.  He will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services are to be held at Emmanuel Free Reformed Church in Abbotsford, BC on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Little Mountain Cemetery in Chilliwack following.  A viewing will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services in Aldergrove.

The family would like to thank Dr. Klaus and the nursing staff in the ICU at the Chilliwack Hospital.
