Justin David deBruyckere

May 23rd, 2014

“Forever Loved, Forever Missed.”

On Friday May 23rd 2014,  Kevin, Shannon and Jared lost their amazing son and brother, Justin.

Justin was the oldest cousin to Spencer and Hailey, Christopher and Brayden,  James and Jordan, Kelsey and Karley.  Justin was the first grandchild for Grandpa Dave and Nana (Keene) and for Grandpa Harley and Grandma (deBruyckere).  He was a special nephew to Auntie “Bub” and Uncle Kelly (Reichert) and to Auntie Michelle (Keene); Uncle Paul and Aunt Joanne; and, to Auntie Karen and Uncle Joel (Jackshaw) in Red Deer, where he had many cousins, uncles, and aunts.

Justin graduated from Elgin Park Secondary School in the Class of 2010 with his dearest friends Trevor, Dan, Corbin, Conrad, Graden and Arjan.  After graduation he attended Kwantlen Polytechnic University and in 2012 he headed off to the University of Victoria where he fully embraced the residence life in “Shirley Baker Hall” and where he met many special friends including Prab, Matt, Georgia, Summer and Nick, to name just a few.

Throughout his short time with us Justin enjoyed life to the fullest.  Justin never shied away from a new adventure whether it was heading off to Europe after high school, snowboarding when he was seven, swimming with sharks in the Caribbean or camping on the beach in Victoria.  Justin experienced so much in the short time he was with us.

Justin, your smile and how you lit up a room, will be forever remembered. Those that were part of your life have been truly blessed.

Justin will be remembered at Sanford Hall at Kwomais Point Park in Ocean Park on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at 3:30 P.M.   The service will be followed by a barbecue in the park overlooking the ocean.

Messages:

Kevin and Shannon. I was just back in BC and learned of your heart wrenching loss. I remember your boys coming into the office on occasion and Shannon speaking of their boyhood antics over quilt sessions. Our hearts go out to you and I hope that over time you will be blessed with wonderful memories that will warm your heart and bring a smile. Thinking of your family and wishing you peace during this trying time.

Kevin, Shannon & Jared .. our condolences on the passing of Justin. As a family with a son of our own we can't imagine what you must be feeling and going through, but our thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear about Justin. I remember our children running around playing together and the beautiful smiles that both your sons always wore. You are in our thoughts and hearts. I hope in time you are able to conjure only the happy memories and that all of your smiles return. Jeanne and Ed Preto.

Hey Kevin I know you have been overwhelmed with messages, cards and condolences but I just wanted you to know a day hasn't gone by that I haven't thought of you and Shannon and your family. Every time you and I talked about anything personal it was about the boys or about Shannon. You were always so proud of the boys whether they were playing lacrosse or meeting girls. I know what an amazing father you are and how proud of the boys you are. I went into work on Monday and your door was locked and lights were out - it was gut wretching for me. Any one of us could be going through what you are going through and I don't know how you make it . We may never of seen each other socially or talked about personal things but I do know what an amazing father you are and I consider you a dear friend. Take care Kevin and I hope to see you soon. Lois

Shannon, I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers and I am sending strength and love your way. Take care during this time of unfathomable loss... please take care of yourself know you are supported by so many people who care! Wendy Magnusson

We remember Justin as a happy young lad - a good friend and someone we enjoyed being with. We loved how he and Patrick would run between each others houses. We are completely shocked and saddened by his sudden departure from this world. Our hearts are with his family. Justin, you will always be remembered with love and joy. We send you our love and prayers. Janet and Tim

Kevin and family, I was deeply saddened to learn of your son's passing this week. The passage of a family member is always difficult, but it is even more so when they are young. Take care.
